Skin Wash
Linda Rupniak - Konishiki Shar Pei

Ingredients:

Elderberry Leaves 2 Handfuls
Rosemary Oil/Herb Half Teaspoon or handful
Sage herb Sprinkling
Eucalyptus A few
Wormwood Herb if available Handful
Garlic Head 2-3 Full Heads

Collect two handfuls of elderberry leaves and wash them.

Put them into a saucepan with half teaspoon of rosemary oil or a good handful of rosemary herb, add some sage herb, a few eucalyptus leaves, a handful of wormwood (bitter herb) if you can get it and the main ingredient, 2 or 3 whole heads of garlic (15 odd cloves).

Liquidise the garlic.

Put all ingredients into a big saucepan and fill with water, bring to the boil and boil for 30 minutes at simmer.

Leave to cool, strain and put in jars with lid on.

This can be frictioned into the dog’s skin at times of soreness, moulting etc.

Notes:
Elderberry leaves are great for soothing eczema and sore skin, rosemary is a natural insecticide and wormwood makes the skin bitter for fleas or other mites and eucalyptus makes it smell a bit better!! Sage is beneficial for the skin too. In fact sage helps with hair growth and will also harshen the coats! The house will smell like a “take-away” restaurant but you find the flies don’t come in!!
